Calendar Girl Blog: Calendar Girl Meets The Calendar Girls
The movie Calendar Girls was based on a real story of a whack of gals from a women's institute in England who decided to make a nude calendar as a fundraiser for some updated furniture for the local hospital waiting room. Such simple projects happen all the time all over the world.
Somehow, their undertaking caught the eye of HOLLYWOOD and a simple effort turned into one big fat whirlwind of media and fame. I call this the Elvis syndrome. "Little ladies, we gonna make you stars"!!!!
Breast of Canada is having no such luck. Too many of those pesky nipples peeking out of each month for the average, and I do mean average Joe and Jane to wrap their mono perspective around. Nipples = pornography to most who prefer to use the knee jerk method of living.
I think a bee has flown into my bonny bonnet.
Anyhow....the original ladies from the women's institute in jolly ole England emailed me in August with an order for a half dozen 2006 calendars and I'm happy to state that THEY LOVE THEM.
So that's my brush with fame for this posting. And yes, Calendar Girl is bragging.

Wow, that's great news Sue.
We own a copy of the movie on DVD and we love it. It must have been a real buzz to get their order!
Those nipples are pesk little things aren't they? I really don't get why they should cause so much fuss. But they do!
Breast of Canada performs a different function in the world to the WI calendar. Who knows what will come of it. What you know already is that you have touched many lives.
In Univesity, I did this weekly column for the student rag called "Brushes With Greatness." It was very fun to learn who people thought were 'stars' and how excited they were to rub shoulders with them.
Never would have thought the calendar business would come with it's own celeb factor. Who next...Pamela Anderson??
