Calendar Girl Blog: Unhappy Recipient
An unhappy recipient of a Breast of Canada calendar called me yesterday to complain. Despite my effort to explain the concept behind the project, the woman's mind was clearly made up. I was polite and respectful despite being told that I was "very well trained in my answers."
This morning I've been called by CBC Windsor. Apparently the unhappy recipient has taken her displeasure farther.
Why she would not simply return the calendar to the person that gave it to her is a mystery to me.
Calendar Girl knows that no press is bad press. And she is clear in her belief about the calendar. But still..... it's been a long hard year of effort. Calendar Girl had hoped to ease out of the 2007 calendar season gently.

Well that sucks, since so many people LOVE your calendar and appreciate the cause it supports. I gave one as a gift to a VERY HAPPY recipient this christmas. I would think that if this woman has such a problem with the calendar which is produced in a very tastful manner that she should share her views with the person who bought it for her. I hope your talk with CBC is a productive one, and get the word out about this great project!

I'm sorry to hear about that Sue.
It doesn't matter how many good comments you get, the negative ones still hurt.
However, just to remind you - you do a magnificent piece of work with this calendar.

You said it yourself. Any press is good press. I hope you believe it because it's true, especially when you are right!
If you try to please everybody then you end up pleasing no one.
Now that the CBC has interviewed you,and 'the Mother'has probably felt guilty ever since,you have to reflect on the fact that no harm was done,the word got out,and you and your project have become
a coast-to-coast phenomena.
