Calendar Girl Blog: May I Take You Out to Lunch
What a difference a week off makes.
Here's what's shaking. I'm facing the phase of the Breast of Canada publishing cycle where I need money. Over the past five year's I've scrapped and scrambled, asked, begged and pleaded plus cracked into my own piggy bank to amass the chunk of change needed to put this baby out. The lions share of my costs have been paid for from my own pocket. And yet, interesting, the benefit of Breast of Canada is well beyond my little world. The message, breast cancer prevention, is a universally needed paradigm shift. Little attention is put into breast cancer until you are struck with the disease.
Call me crazy, but I would prefer to stay cancer free if at all possible. I'm assuming that I am not alone. Hence my work and my effort. I trust that by this point it is pretty obvious that I'm not in this just for myself.
Further, I can no longer publish the project without being paid. To date, Breast of Canada covers it's own costs but my effort has been voluntary. Now that I've worked out the kinks, have 2500 loyal customers and a five year publishing history of excellence, I feel ready to take the project to the next level. But here's the rub. I don't live on air alone. Scrambling to cover my cost of living does not inspire great work, takes time and leaves me exhausted. The next level requires all of me.
So here's the new deal. Below is my resume. I am looking for an angel/philanthropist to step forward who can see my potential and has an interest in helping this project thrive. If you are one, please contact me. If you know one, do share. Or if word spreading is your forte, please spread away.
I'll buy lunch.
