Calendar Girl Blog: Pace

My pal Jim Estill gave me a tip a few years ago that I occasionally misplace but have never forgotten.
Set a pace you can maintain forever.
When practiced, burnout can be avoided. And a faster or slower pace can be implemented if required to get the job done or conversely if projects fall into a limbo state. Essentially, using different speeds saves energy. A steady pace, as the turtle proved, gets you to the finish line with fuel in your tank.

It's good timing that Jim's tip surfaced in my menopausal mind this month.

With the calendar, my pace cranks up considerably right about now. Like today for instance. Orders needed to be shipped. I was interviewed extensively for a book this woman is writing. I meet with a retailer, did banking, blogged, planned an upcoming sales event, promoted the upcoming public launch and worked on a new project. I was busy. My list is nowhere near complete. And I'm pooped.

Yet, I was successful in that I did not rush nor did I feel stressed. What's left on the list will be attended to tomorrow.

Calendar Girl will attempt to be zen-like with her pace for the next four months of calendar crunch and spare you dear readers from my whine and whimper routine. The more steady calendar girl can set her course, the better off we'll all be.
