Calendar Girl Blog: Linky Love
Building website traffic is one of those mysterious entities that requires a mix of voodoo, brains and moxie.
I do my best to apply all three but the most effective form to date boils down to 'just plain asking.'
When other websites and blogs post a Breast of Canada banner or link the most obvious outcome is new traffic. Determining if your website/blog traffic would be interested in a breast health education product is easy to figure out.
About half the population of the world are breast owners. Breast ownership is clearly a risk factor for breast cancer. The other half of the population has mothers and perhaps sisters, daughters, wives and aunts. This half of the population wants the women in their life to remain well. So the potential for everyone to find the calendar of interest is there.
Folks that post one of our banners are indicating that breast health education is of importance to them. A banner does not mean anyone has to do anything or even make a purchase. It simply presents the option. And it helps out. Really. Every link that points to Breast of Canada tells the search engines that the site is important. The more important we're deemed, the higher we're ranked. Ranking brings traffic. Traffic can lead to buyers. Calendar ownership supports the education of the user. Everyone along the trail wins.
Here's my pitch.
Pretty please, with organic strawberries or fruit of choice on top should strawberries make you itch, place one of our fetching banners somewhere on your website or blog. A full compliment of banners appears here with code ready to be copied and pasted to your hearts content. Place it once or several thousand times, boldly on your home page or discreetly somewhere in the bowels of your site. Also worth note, adding this blog to your roll will provide a similar outcome now that blog and breast calendar bed at the same url.
Of course Calendar Girl understands if you prefer not to leave a linky trail between her and your domain. But if you glean any pleasure or insight from any of her blah, blah, blahing, a link is a fine way to say so.
