Calendar Girl Blog: Proof Number One

Moving right along into the details of putting out a calendar that is free of mistakes, Gareth and I sat down for the first proofing session yesterday afternoon.

The first round of errors are always the easiest. I check to make sure that months appear in the right order, contain the right number of days and start on the appropriate day each month. You might think that such errors would be far fetched but I've learned that nothing is impossible in the world of publishing.

Just imagine if we shorted a month by one day. Lives would be very messed up. Dentist appointments would be missed. Hot dates would fizzle instead of sizzle. My head pounds and neck sweats just from the thought.

We certainly don't want that.

Calendar Girl will now call in the team of sharp eyed pros to find the poor grammar, misspellings and wagging lines that should be straight. Then she'll give the whole deal another eyeball. By the time the calendar get her final stamp of approval, dozens of eyeballs will have traveled along the pages. Any mistakes left unnoticed then become 'charming features'.
